About Dead Saints Society
“The treasury of the church is the liberality of God. The power of the church is the omnipotence of Jehovah. The persuasions of the church are the irresistible influences of the Holy Ghost. The destiny of the church is an ultimate conquest over all the sons of men.” Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Satan has gained much ground over the last fifty years or so. His kingdom has advanced and strongholds have been reinforced. On all sides we are confronted with sin and its affects.
What is the response of the people who claim the name and power of Christ? Are we salt and light, preventing decay by the power of God like the Church of Acts? Unfortunately, in most cases we are not. What do we see the professing body of believers doing? We see Mega Churches with tens of thousands of members that proclaim “another gospel”. We are taught that we are “gods” and Christ is here to provide for our happiness, prosperity and health instead of conforming us to the image of Christ for His glory. Even our smaller”churches” have become social clubs that are statistically as carnal as the world. We see church leaders living in multi-million dollar homes and flying from event to event in private jets. Thousands claim the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders. We hear stories of people being healed and even raised from the dead, yet righteousness is ignored and sin is not being restrained.
In fact, most churches cater to the world and its entertainments and are oblivious to sin within and around them. Worship is vigorous and filled with emotion like never before in history and yet superficial and man-centered. A little discernment will reveal that most ”christian” songs written today speak about all that we will do and know nothing of what Christ has done. A good number of these songs could be ascribed to any number of gods and reflect nothing of the absolute Holiness of our Lord and Savior. Hymns that were sung by the Church throughout history are dismissed as boring and lacking life. Emotion is put forth as the standard while righteousness, holiness and duty are scorned. Biblical teaching has been replaced with poetry, testimony and heart gripping stories. Virtue and Uprightness are scarce today and often mocked and abused by those who are called to exemplify it. Those who see the error of this and speak out are called unloving and intolerant. All the while, the world around is slipping towards hell faster than ever before. Yet this is not the first time this has happened and it has been at the very peak of Sin’s power that the Lord has mightily awakened his true church and swept thousands into the Kingdom through her influence.
In Great Revivals of the past, the True Church burned bright with the intensity of Holiness, Purity and devotion to God, through Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. This light or saltiness had a restraining effect on sin in the world. People repented of their sin and turned to God. Nation after nation were dramatically affected by the power of the Holy Spirit. Powerful Hymns of the Faith that magnify God’s Glory were written and believers were constantly singing the praise of God. The Church in these times stood in glaring contrast to the world and laid siege to the strongholds of Satan.
Here at “Dead Saints”, we are looking to men and women that were greatly used of God in those times of revival. We want to know the God and the Savior that they knew and experienced. We are not content with the “gospel” being fed to us in this day and hour. Many people are so busy doing, that they have never sat, listened and learned at the feet of a powerfully used man of God. They never waited on the Lord for His revelation of truth or his call to the ministry. Church and World History has confirmed the work of God in these men. These men passed through the fires of persecution, starvation, sickness and even death and now rest with our Lord in Heaven. Their struggles speak to ours. Let us learn from them about this God of ours and may we draw near to him in prayer and true worship. May the Lord find us faithful when He comes in Power to reclaim the Glory of His name from those who have defiled it. Join us as we pray for revival and look to God in the hope that he will send us faithful men and women Baptized in the Holy Spirit like those of old.
